Product and intended use

Exact SKU, model identifier and final drawing or specification revision.
Indoor guest-bed, family/car-camping or other specifically confirmed use.
Intended users, including whether any child-related use is proposed.
Dimensions, construction, surface treatment and material composition.

Electrical and battery configuration

No pump, manual pump, external electric pump or built-in electric pump.
Exact pump model, rated electrical supply, plug and any supplied charger.
Presence or absence of lithium batteries; exact cell and battery identifiers.
Final supplied accessories and packaging. Pumps and accessories are not default inclusions.

United States

Determine applicable consumer-product safety obligations and whether CPSC testing or certificates are required for the exact product. Construction, filling or surface features and child-related uses can change the assessment.

Review electrical and battery requirements where relevant. Confirm customs classification and current import requirements separately; a historical tariff ruling is not a universal classification or current duty rate.

Do not describe ordinary air mattresses as "FDA certified" without a specific, verified legal basis.

Market / 02

European Union

Review applicable obligations under the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) and REACH for the exact materials and intended use, including relevant safety documentation, traceability and economic-operator information.

Depending on pump, charger and battery configuration, assess EMC, LVD, RoHS and battery legislation where applicable. CE marking applies only when the product falls within legislation requiring it; GPSR alone does not require CE marking.

A material test report is not blanket "REACH certification" for every product or revision.

United Kingdom / Great Britain

England, Scotland and Wales

Review the applicable GB product-safety, chemical, electrical and battery rules. Determine the current marking and conformity arrangements for the product category, including whether UKCA or accepted CE marking is relevant under current legislation.

Do not assume EU documentation alone resolves GB requirements. Confirm labels, instructions and importer responsibilities for the intended GB sale.

United Kingdom / Northern Ireland

A separate review scope

Northern Ireland has different arrangements from Great Britain. Review applicable EU-derived product rules and current NI arrangements for the exact SKU.

Where conformity marking is required, assess CE and, only where the applicable route requires it, CE together with UKNI. UKCA alone is not the NI route. Confirm the effect of the chosen assessment body and marking on onward market access.

04 / Lithium-battery transport

Transport evidence is a separate check.

If lithium batteries are supplied, product-market documentation does not by itself establish shipping eligibility. Review the actual battery and shipment with the freight forwarder and carrier.

If a verified configuration contains no lithium battery, record that finding and its supporting specification before marking this review as not applicable.

Conditional transport evidence checklist

Identify the battery: confirm chemistry, cell and pack models, ratings and whether it ships installed, packed with equipment or separately.
Review UN 38.3 evidence: obtain applicable test evidence and the test summary; match the tested battery type to the supplied configuration.
Confirm the transport route: review current air, sea or other transport rules and carrier-specific acceptance conditions for the shipment.
Check shipment preparation: verify applicable packaging, terminal protection, marks, labels and shipping documents, including a dangerous-goods declaration where required.
Resolve gaps before booking: record carrier or forwarder confirmation and any additional evidence requested. An SDS alone does not replace applicable UN 38.3 evidence.
